Happy Birthday TOTD

October 8, 2008

We’re a year old today.  Trust you’ve been enjoying the last 245 postings.

Here are some highlights(?) from the past year:

October 2007 and a blog from Stephen Fry:

November saw our posting which has received the largest number of hits (over 4000):

December and a site that’s still really useful:

January had us delving into a scary world of Scrabble with the ‘short story’ _Craziest_:

February saw the still quite moving video about world creation in Second Life:

March and an Information Literacy favourite still going strong:

April saw the limited range of movement the Apollo 11 crew made after travelling so far:

No round up of the year would be complete with a mention of the biggest item in our tag cloud: Lego.  May saw three entries:

June had some retro computing:

July quite wore us out following Rob Piatt (you can now download his whole blog in chronological order as a PDF file if you want to revisit his quest for an anecdote).

August had us bookmooching:

Finally, there’d be trouble at t’mill if this wasn’t picked from September:

Here’s to another year of TOTD – recently okayed by the powers that be to continue – we hope you all have a great year as well.

New email

May 9, 2008

For those who’ve requested it – (and those who haven’t!) – TOTD now has its own email address.

If you would like to contribute something and don’t want to ‘comment’ on another post, please send us an email to:

totd@port.ac.uk

Presumably there’s some way of adding it to the blog page as well…

Uni Library Facebook “Page”

February 27, 2008

Facebook has introduced ‘pages’ which seem to work better – for our purposes at least – than ‘groups’.  You can link to useful stuff like the catalogue, subject directory, R@P; you can leave feedback (please do!); and best yet it will carry this blog live so there’s no extra work involved in keeping both these forms of TOTD updated.  (Blog readers: feel free to move over to the Facebook version of TOTD if you prefer!)  Or just join as a ‘fan’ if you like.

oh, and while…

January 10, 2008

… TOTD is still highlighted in red as a “new” thing.  Now would be a good moment to include the University of Portsmouth Library’s homepage:

http://www.port.ac.uk/library

Note under the tab ‘Library News’ there’s also a new link to ‘Blogs’ over on the left hand side which is the early stages of a plan to collect up blogs by students and staff, either work or personal.  Whatever.  Contribute any you know about or write yourself!
