There was a definite feeling of spring in the air this morning and TOTD was thinking ahead to warmer days and leisurely walks along the seafront. If you miss walking along the beach then try this out. Manonabeach has a small collection of films that capture the scene at a few Cornish beaches and asks other beachgoers the question “What does the beach mean to you…?”.



California Coastline

TOTD spotted this at No.2 in the Time 50 Best Websites 2009. Photographing the entire coastline of California from a helicopter flying as low as 500 feet sparked some controversy and, like Google’s Street View, it does raise some questions about privacy. There’s no denying though that the detail in some of the photos is very engrossing.

Good Beach Guide

TOTD heard on the BBC news that a fifth of those who went abroad in 2008 are choosing the UK instead this year. So, if you are heading for a UK beach this summer, this guide to beach quality may be helpful.

Unfortunately, while our coastal waters may be lovely for a dip in between making sand castles, it seems that you have a one in seven chance of contracting a sewage related disease. Sewage overflow pipes are largely to blame and you can report problem pipes using their ‘storm pollution hot-map’.
