Your Paintings

by

The BBC has just launched a new website that aims to showcase the entire UK national collection of oil paintings. 63,000 items have been added for the launch and their aim is to include all the estimated 200,000 oil paintings that can be found in public institutions, including museums, libraries, hospitals and town halls. The University Library has quite a sizable collection of paintings and we have already submitted three works that you can find on the site.

it’s not easy to tell from the site which three are from your collection

    Hi Andy,
    Just click on
Galleries & Collections > Hampshire & the Isle of Wight > University of Portsmouth
and you’ll be taken straight to the three works uploaded so far. For some reason, however, they don’t appear to have included the information we gave them that indicates where, exactly, the paintings are kept or how they can be viewed by visitors.
