Punky Night

October 28, 2010

In the villages of Hinton St George and Chiselborough in Somerset England, the last Thursday in October is Punky Night. The villagers carve Jack-o-Lanterns out of a large variety of beet and parade through the town with them or bring them to a competition in the town hall. The Punky Night festivities are thought to go back at least 250 years, to a time before Americans began carving Jack-o-Lanterns from pumpkins.

In almost every picture #7

October 26, 2010

In almost every picture #7 tells the story of a Dutch woman whose life is seen from the point of view of a fairground shooting gallery.

It begins in 1936 when Ria van Dijk went to a shooting gallery where when you hit the target a photo is automatically taken and given as a prize. She continues to visit the shooting gallery every year and therefore builds up amazing collection of photographs that really captures the changing times she lives through.

Brandon Flowers

October 25, 2010

TOTD was lucky enough to attend the Brandon Flowers gig at the HMV ForumĀ in Kentish Town, London last week. Brandon has been touring the UK with debut solo album ‘Flamingo’. We can confirm that Mr Flowers is an amazing live performer who’s stage presance and vocals where flawless.

Whilst we love his solo work, we hope that he will be back fronting The Killers soon!

You can enjoy a video of Only the Young – Brandon’s upcoming single – filmed by TOTD at the gig (hence the rather shaky camera work) here

More info on him can be found here
