Today marks the fiftieth anniversary of the untimely death of Fifties Rock and Roller Buddy Holly. Holly was killed in a plane crash along with fellow musicians Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson Jr, also known as the Big Bopper. One of the finest tribute songs ever recorded was ‘American Pie’ by Don McLean. Here are some notes about the song, plus videos, from McLean’s website:
