Thanks for this contribution:

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/06/26/youchoose_chairs_that_follow_balls_of_steel_and_air_hockey_champs.html

which came with the comment:

“Can we have RFID controlled chairs in our Library, please?”

Indeed, we want them too!  (Let us know if you get them.)

June 26, 2008

TOTD hasn’t come across Nina before but after seeing this clip at a conference yesterday (in a presentation on the things lecturers can learn from stand up comedians):

TOTD & LOTR

June 23, 2008

No TOTD today as the entire TOTD staff are off to London to see the stage version of Lord of the Rings (again – it’s that good).

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but for anyone with half an interest in LotR and a whole love of stage spectacle won’t find much to top this.  Brilliant!  But you’ve only a month left to see it before it closes.

Doctor Who does books

June 17, 2008

a minor flurry on a library related email lists discusses recent episodes of Doctor Who:

http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=ind0806&L=lis-link&T=0&F=&S=&P=12192

and on another list:

Which only goes to show how forward thinking University of Portsmouth Library was in linking our last Freshers’ Fayre theme to the good Doctor.  Kudos to the minds behind the idea.

Time for Web 2.0?

June 13, 2008

It’s quickly apparent that getting involved in Web 2.0 (and/or Second Life) takes time.  But how much?
