Computer Music

February 28, 2008

Here’s an astonishing tour de force.  A piece of music using only Windows sounds:

Uni Library Facebook “Page”

February 27, 2008

Facebook has introduced ‘pages’ which seem to work better – for our purposes at least – than ‘groups’.  You can link to useful stuff like the catalogue, subject directory, R@P; you can leave feedback (please do!); and best yet it will carry this blog live so there’s no extra work involved in keeping both these forms of TOTD updated.  (Blog readers: feel free to move over to the Facebook version of TOTD if you prefer!)  Or just join as a ‘fan’ if you like.

HEMA Department Store

February 26, 2008

It won’t be often that TOTD advertises a Dutch department store and it may be that you never want to buy anything from it.  But if you’re interested in web design, it’s worth waiting a moment or two at their homepage:

Birthday Stars

February 25, 2008

This curiousity will try and find a star that’s visible now (well, at night at least and with good visibility!) from which the light set off around about the time you were born.

Mind maps

February 22, 2008

Following a lecture on mind mapping TOTD was sent a URL noting some of the disadvantages of the things (as well as advantages).  It’s worth a visit:

and of course our very own ASK has a leaflet on the subject which is a handy summary:

(I think Birmingham may have a better URL naming structure!)

Watch the World(s)

February 18, 2008

One of the best moments of the talk on Second Life by Roo Reynolds that TOTD mentioned last Friday was this:
